Sighisoara is one of the few remaining medieval citadels in Europe that remains entirely and continuously inhabited. It is famously the birthplace of Prince Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler), born here in 1431 in the "Casa Vlad Dracul." While the popular Dracula legend is a work of fiction created by novelists, history remembers Vlad Tepes as a formidable defender of Christianity against the Ottoman Empire.

Explore this stunning citadel, including:

• The Clock Tower: The most well-preserved of the nine remaining medieval towers; it currently houses the City Museum.

Day 11: Hunedoara - Deva - Sarmizegetusa Regia - Sibiu - Breakfast, Dinner

Visit Corvin Castle (Hunyadi Castle), a spectacular Gothic-Renaissance masterpiece. Ranked among Europe’s top 25 most beautiful castles alongside Bran and Peleș, it holds a legendary connection to Dracula. It is believed that Vlad the Impaler was imprisoned here before being transferred to Visegrád in Hungary.

Distance Hunedoara - Deva: 15 km, 20 minutes drive.

Drive to Deva to visit the Deva Fortress, an impressive 13th-century medieval citadel perched high on a volcanic hill, serving as one of Romania's most important historic strongholds.

Built in the late 14th century, it later served as a royal residence for Queen Marie. Historically, Vlad the Impaler is believed to have stayed here in 1462 while in route to his imprisonment in Visegrád (the place where he was incarcerated for 12 years).

Day 14: Sinaia - Ploiesti - Buzau - Braila - Tulcea - Crisan - Breakfast, Dinner

Distance Sinaia - Tulcea: 340 km, 5 hours drive.

Depart Sinaia and journey toward the Danube Delta, Europe’s youngest land. Drive across the vast Romanian Plains, passing through Ploiești and Buzău, until reaching Brăila.

Cross the majestic Danube River via the spectacular Brăila Suspension Bridge, affectionately known as the "Golden Gate of Romania", as we travel onward to Tulcea.

Afternoon arrive in Tulcea, the historic gateway to the Danube Delta. Here, we transfer from our coach to a boat to begin our river journey.

Tulcea - Crisan - Tulcea journeys will be on the water.

Sail along the scenic Sulina Branch, one of the three major arms (alongside Chilia and Sfântu Gheorghe) that empty the Danube into the Black Sea. Take in the breathtaking landscapes and unique birdlife along the way.

Spend the day navigating the labyrinth of hidden channels, quiet lakes, and floating reed beds. This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is a true paradise for nature lovers, home to over 300 species of birds, including massive colonies of white pelicans, egrets, and herons.

A stop will be made for a traditional fishermen's lunch (optional/at leisure) or to explore a remote delta village.

Day 16: Crisan - Excursion in Danube Delta - Crisan - Breakfast, Dinner

Embark on a boat excursion along the Sulina Branch, sailing all the way to where the Danube meets the Black Sea.

Discover the fascinating history of Sulina. Following the Crimean War (1853–1856), this remote outpost became the headquarters of the European Commission of the Danube, transforming it into a highly cosmopolitan Porto Franco (free port) where dozens of ethnicities lived and traded together.

Day 17: Crisan - Tulcea - Bucharest - Breakfast, Dinner

Check out of the resort and board the boat for the return cruise to Tulcea.

Distance Tulcea - Bucharest: 290 km, 4 hours drive.

Upon arrival in Tulcea, step off the boat and board the motorcoach for the drive back to Bucharest, Romania's vibrant capital, famously known as the "Little Paris of the East."

As we arrive, enjoy an introductory look into the city's rich history. While legends attribute its founding to a shepherd named Bucur or the 14th-century Prince Mircea the Old, Bucharest was officially established by Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Țepeș), who signed the city's first document of attestation on September 21, 1459.

Pass by the Old Princely Court (Curtea Veche), Vlad's medieval headquarters (currently undergoing extensive restoration), before checking into your hotel.
